==================================== OBJECTIVE OF THE TIPPING COMPETITION ==================================== The objective of the 2024 NRL Tipping Competition is to accumulate the highest number of points of all Participants in the competition. Points are awarded for correctly tipping the outcome of matches in the 2024 National Rugby League competition. Bonus Points are also available in circumstances as detailed in these Terms & Conditions. ======================= 1. SUBMITTING TIPS ======================= 1.1. Matches to select are grouped into "tipping rounds". 1.2. Selections (hereafter, "Tips") for matches that have not yet commenced can be submitted and changed prior to the time shown on the "Fixtures & Tips" screen at https://nrl.onlinesportstipping.com (hereafter, the "Tipping Website") for each match. 1.3. When submitting Tips, players in the tipping competition (hereafter, "Participants") are required to submit a Tip for every match available for selection within each tipping round where the time shown adjacent to the match remains in the future. 1.4. For matches where a Participant has not submitted a Tip before the time shown for the match has passed, the Participant will automatically be allocated the team listed second on the match list (typically, the team playing away from home) at the Tipping Website for that tipping round. ======================= 2. MAKING SELECTIONS ======================= 2.1. Possible results for all matches include a winning result and - with the exception of Finals - a drawn result. 2.1.1. A Participant can select a maximum of 1 draw per round. 2.1.2. A Participant can select a maximum of 10 draws for the entire season. 2.2. A Participant enters Tips using the “Fixtures & Tips” page from the Tipping Website (https://nrl.onlinesportstipping.com/fixtures.asp). For each match, Participants are required to choose a winning team - or a draw (if available) - as the desired result. 2.3. When selecting a team name, a Participant's prediction is that their selected team will score more points than the opposing team. 2.4. When selecting a match to "Draw", a Participant's prediction is that both teams contesting the match will score the same number of points, including after any extra time period. ================== 3. TIPPING POINTS ================== 3.1. Points are awarded to a Participant based on the results of each match played in the tipping round. The breakdown of tipping points awarded is as follows: - Correctly tipping a team to win the match earns 1 point; - Correctly tipping a match to be drawn earns 3 points. 3.1.1. For all Representative matches (International matches and State of Origin games): - Correctly tipping a team to win the match earns 2 points; - Correctly tipping a match to be drawn earns 3 points. 3.1.2. For all matches during the Finals series: - Correctly tipping a team to win a match during the first two weeks of Finals earns 2 points; - Correctly tipping a team to win a match during the Preliminary Finals earns 3 points; - Correctly tipping a team to win the Grand Final earns 4 points; - Draws are not available for selection during the Finals. =============== BONUS POINTS =============== 3.2. "Bonus Points" are also awarded to a Participant when all Tips submitted for a tipping round are correct. These points are awarded in addition to all points scored from the individual match selections. 3.2.1. The number of Bonus Points awarded to a Participant varies depending on the number of matches in the tipping round: - Correctly tipping all matches in a round comprising 8 matches earns 3 bonus points; - Correctly tipping all matches in a round comprising 6 or 7 matches earns 2 bonus points; - Correctly tipping all matches in a round comprising 4 or 5 matches earns 1 bonus point. 3.2.4. Bonus Points are not available for tipping rounds involving Representative or Finals matches. ================== PRE-SEASON TIPS ================== 3.3. Before the final match in the first tipping round commences, Participants must submit a further team-based prediction. Participants whose pre-season, team-based prediction is correct earn additional 3 points at the conclusion of the competition. 3.3.1. The team-based prediction for this competition is: Which team do you believe will WIN the NRL 2024 Grand Final? 3.4. Also before the final match in the first tipping round commences, Participants must submit a numerical prediction. Participants' answers to this question do not earn points, but are used to resolve ties at the end of the competition. Participants answering closest to the correct answer are given outright precedence in the final standings to those tied on the same score. 3.4.1. The tie-breaker question for this competition is: How many tackle breaks will be performed by the leading (individual) tackle-breaker for the 2024 NRL season? (including all NRL rounds and NRL finals) ================== DOUBLE-UP BONUS ================== 3.5. Participants have the option to nominate any round (whose first match has not yet commenced) to be their "Double-up Round". All tipping points earned during a Participant's nominated Double-up Round are multiplied by 2 upon the completion of that tipping round. 3.5.1. Only one Double-up Round is available for each Participant for the duration of the competition. 3.5.2. Once a Participant has nominated a Double-up Round, they can cancel this nomination provided that the first match for the nominated round has not yet commenced. 3.5.3. A Participant may also change their nomination from one round to another provided that the first match for both rounds has not yet commenced. 3.5.4. The Double-up Round is not available during the Finals. 3.5.5. Any "Bonus Points" earned as set out in Condition 3.2 will NOT be doubled in a Double-Up Bonus. Example scores involving Bonus Points and Double-up bonus include (where a "perfect round" means a tipping round that the Participant correctly selected the winner of every match): - A perfect round containing 8 matches and with double-up yields 19 points (8 correct tips x 2, + 3 bonus points). - A perfect round containing 7 matches and with double-up yields 16 points (7 correct tips x 2, + 2 bonus points). - A perfect round containing 6 matches and with double-up yields 14 points (6 correct tips x 2, + 2 bonus points). - A perfect round containing 5 matches and with double-up yields 11 points (5 correct tips x 2, + 1 bonus point). - A perfect round containing 4 matches and with double-up yields 9 points (4 correct tips x 2, + 1 bonus point). ===================================== 4. POSTPONEMENTS AND CANCELLATIONS ===================================== 4.1. If a scheduled match cannot be completed at or near its originally scheduled date, for whatever reason (such as, but not limited to conflicting match assignments from other competitions, adverse weather conditions or other "Acts of God", terrorism, pitch invasions or crowd violence), the organisers reserve the right to mark the match "POSTPONED". The organisers will endeavour to communicate the impact of all match postponements on the tipping competition in a timely manner. 4.2. In the event that the NRL 2024 is cancelled before it commences, or before the completion of the Grand Final on October 6th, 2024, all entry fees will be refunded. ============================== 5. PAYMENTS & REGISTRATION ============================== 5.1. The entry fee for the 2024 competition is $52.00 for Participants paying via PayPal (including debit and credit cards), and $55.00 for Participants paying by other means. 5.2. Payment of the entry fee must be received by the organisers by 1:30pm, Sunday March 3rd, 2024 (AEDT). Methods of payment will be provided to registered users: a) Via email following completion of their registration to the tipping competition; and b) From their "My Details" page on the Tipping Website (https://nrl.onlinesportstipping.com/personaldetails.asp) once registered and logged in. 5.2. Registration for the competition closes once the payment deadline expires. ============= 6. WINNERS ============= 6.1. At the conclusion of the tournament (considering Condition 4.2), prizes will be awarded to Participants based on the positions nominated in a defined prize list (to be announced via email by NRL Round 4). The tipping competition is expected to be completed on or around October 6th, 2024. 6.2. Prizes will be awarded to a number of Participants who finish at the top of the overall tipping competition standings. There will also be a number of "novelty" prizes for finishing on a position nominated by the organisers. These prize amounts will be confirmed also via email by NRL Round 4. 6.3. The total number and exact locations of prizes will be finalised following the closing of registration (see Condition 5.2) and subsequent confirmation of final numbers. ================ 7. ORGANISERS ================ 7.1. The organisers of the NRL 2024 Tipping are Scott Coppock and Braam Smith, and can be contacted at nrl@onlinesportstipping.com ================== 8. NEW REFERRALS ================== 8.1. During registration, a Participant identifies who referred them to the tipping competition. All Participants from the 2023 competition will be available to select. Once registered for NRL 2024 Tipping, a Participant becomes eligible for others future Participants to select as their referrer. One Participant from NRL 2024 Tipping will win a jersey of the NRL team of their choice. This prize is valued at approximately AU$175.00. 8.2. To win the referral prize, all the following conditions will need to be met by the winning Participant: (a) Referrals must be NEW Participants who did not participate in the NRL 2023 Tipping competition. Participants who were part of the NRL 2023 Tipping competition will not count to the referral total. The organisers have discretion in determining whether a potential referral was a Participant in the NRL 2023 Tipping competition. (b) Their entry fee must be paid by the deadline specified in Condition 5.2. (c) Only referred Participants who have paid their entry fee by the deadline specified in Condition 5.2. will count towards the Participant's referral total. (d) The Participant who refers the highest number of paid (new) Participants to the 2024 competition will win the referral prize described in Condition 8.1 above. (e) In the event of a tie, the organiser(s) will determine which paying referral registered with the Tipping Website last for each tied Referral Prize candidate. Of these Participants, the prize candidate whose last referral registered first with the Tipping Website will win the referral prize described above. Please note that referred Participants who do not submit their entry fee by the deadline specified in Condition 5.2. will not count towards the tie-break process. (f) The referral-winning Participant cannot be an organiser of the NRL 2024 Tipping Competition (see Condition 7.1.). ================== 9. SURVIVOR ================== 9.1. From Round 1, in addition to regular Tips, all Participants mark one of their Tips as the match they are most confident in tipping correctly. This will be referred to as the Participant's "Survivor Pick" for that tipping round. 9.2. If a Participant’s Survivor Pick is successful, that Participant "survives" for that tipping round and continues to participate in the Survivor side-competition in the following tipping round. 9.3. If a Participant’s Survivor Pick is unsuccessful, that Participant is eliminated from the Survivor side-competition. NOTE: the success (or failure) a Participant has in the Survivor comp has no bearing on the main competition. 9.4. Those Participants who have survived Round 1 continue on to Round 2. The same process repeats for Round 2 (and each subsequent) each tipping round until there is one Participant remaining at the end of a Survivor tipping round. This Participant wins the Survivor side-competition. 9.5. No two (2) consecutive Survivor Picks during the same Survivor competition can be for the same team. 9.6. Participants remaining in a Survivor side-competition are able to submit their choice of Survivor Pick (subject to Condition 9.5) for matches that have not yet started, up to that time when at least 50% of matches for that tipping round have commenced. 9.6.1. The Tipping Website allocates the Survivor Pick for a tipping round to all Participants that have yet to submit a Survivor Pick after that point when 50% of the matches in the tipping round have commenced. The Survivor Pick allocated for such a Participant is drawn from their selections (also subject to Condition 9.5) at the conclusion of the tipping round. 9.7. The prize money awarded to the winner of each Survivor competition depends upon the final number of Participants (to be announced via email by NRL Round 4). 9.8. If time permits, another Survivor side-competition can be started once the first one has completed. All Participants of the main competition shall be re-entered into any subsequent Survivor side-competition at no additional cost. 9.9. Tipping rounds involving representative matches are not included in the Survivor side-competitions. 9.10. Finals will be included in any Survivor side-competition still running at that time. 9.11. Should all Participants remaining in a Survivor side-competition have unsuccessful Survivor picks for a tipping round, those remaining Participants will be reinstated and continue in the Survivor side-competition as of the next tipping round. This ensures a winner is eventually awarded only from the pool of Participants remaining as at the start of that tipping round. 9.12. Following the NRL Grand Final, if there are multiple Participants remaining in a Survivor side-competition, the prize money reserved for that Survivor side-competition shall be distributed equally amongst its remaining Participants.
